Live Project

Increasing and improving local community understanding of the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm’s contribution to the local community and economy

What is a live project?

A live project is a 12-week-long individual project where students collaborate with an industry partner on a subject of choice. During this process, students act as research consultants and media experts, advising on the way.  In brief, a live project encompasses Media, Industry and Innovation - putting the theory I have learned into practice while gaining hands-on experience with working with an industry partner.

Information about project partner

The Rampion Offshore Wind Farm is a wind farm situated off the coast of East Sussex with an onshore base of operations based in Newhaven.  In July 2014, the UK Conservative government approved the construction of the project.  The construction of the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm was completed in 2018, at a total cost of £1.3bn.

The Wind Farm itself aims to contribute to a more sustainable future through generating renewable energy and tackling climate change.  Phase 2 of the development and construction will commence in 2025/6 and will double the potential power generated by the Rampion Wind Farm.
